It's Party Time!!

It's almost Christmas folks!!  Are you ready?
It really is the BEST time of the year! You just have to remind yourself sometimes to slow down and enjoy it.

One of the best things about the holidays, aside from all the delicious food, is all the Christmas parties!

I love getting the opportunity to gather with good friends and family to celebrate our Savior's birth and just enjoy time together! We should never let the stress of the holidays allow us to forget the reason for the season!

For some of you, it could be as simple as getting a break from the daily office grind.
For others, it is the time of year when you get to gather with family and friends you don't get to see on a regular basis.

Whatever the reason for your party, don't be the one everyone talks about by bringing the fruit cake!  You KNOW you don't want to be "that guy"!

Instead, be the talk of the office by bringing fresh made gourmet cupcakes! You will impress your boss and co-workers for sure!

Remember that we will deliver 2 dozen or more cupcakes in a variety of flavors!  Some of our popular holiday flavors include the Pumpkin Spice, the Peppermint Cocoa, the Sweet Potato Pecan, or maybe even a Simple Vanilla with festive Christmas sprinkles!

So get your order in before it is too late and make that Christmas party one to remember!

Thankful to Help!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, how time flies!  Seems like just yesterday we were sweating away in the 100 degree days we had this summer! Now we are just a little more than a week away from Thanksgiving.

As we make preparations for everything involved with the upcoming holiday, there is so much going on, it makes me realize how much there is to do!

Visiting with family, preparing the big meal, maybe even working on the Black Friday shopping list!

But, above all of that, it is a time to be thankful for all the blessings in our life!  We are blessed with so many things, it is a time that we like to try and give back to those who are not so fortunate.

Then, an idea struck me!

My son's cub scout pack, in conjunction with his school, is holding a food drive to benefit hungry families this Thanksgiving.  Any and all non-perishable foods are accepted and will be donated to those who otherwise may not have a holiday meal.

So, here is the deal!

 THIS WEEK ONLY!

Anyone who comes to my truck with a bag of non-perishable food items to donate for the food drive will get their first cupcake FREE!

That's right! I said FREE!!

You can pick any flavor I have that day, and you will go home knowing that you did a good deed!

Some examples of items needed are: (from the list I received)
* Canned Ham
* Canned vegetables or beans
* Canned fruit
* Stuffing Mix
* mac n cheese
* cake or brownie mix
* coffee (NOT instant)
* laundry soap
* Gift Cards!

These items will all be used by families this Thanksgiving.  As we sit down to our big family feast, it will be nice knowing that you also helped feed someone else's family this Thanksgiving!

So, go over to the schedule page and figure out where you can find us this week!

Feature Flavor....it's refreshing!

When I think about summer, one thing that is always comes to mind is stopping in somewhere for one of those drinks that lets you mix and match your flavors!

One of the best, and most popular has always been the Sonic Strawberry Lime-aide!  Actually, any of the fruity flavors are good when you mix them with lime....

It's tangy.
It's sweet.
It is cold and delicious on a hot summer day!

This cupcake was inspired by my summer drink craving a few days ago, while sitting in the hot car after my children finished swim team practice!

This is a delicious strawberry cupcake with a tangy lime buttercream frosting.
It is topped with fresh lime zest, strawberry drizzle, and a sour gummy twist!

It is definitely a summertime delight!

Feature Flavor

It's time once again for the Featured Flavor!

I like to change things up when I can, so today is one of those days!
I have taken one of my best selling cupcakes, the Night and Day, and tweaked it slightly...

Normally, I offer this flavor with optional chocolate drizzle, which is delightful all on it's own!

Now, I guess you could say I have created an all new flavor simply by changing one ingredient.
Instead of chocolate drizzle, I have added mini-chocolate chips!  Yum!

Introducing the Chocolate Chip Night and Day!
A delicious chocolate cupcake, with a vanilla buttercream frosting.
It is then rolled in a bowl of mini (semi-sweet) chocolate chips for a
 semi-sweet, crunchy exterior.... WOW!

Don't you just love a good sale!?  I know I do.
I live for sales!

Starting immediately, I am running a special on Birthday Cupcakes!

I know how it is, when you plan a kids' birthday party it is hard not to break the bank.  Everything these days costs a fortune, from the favors, to the jumping activity place all the kids seem to be drawn to!
Then, you end up having to feed them all.  Whew!

Well, you shouldn't have to skimp on taste to save a little on Junior's cupcakes!

When you order 2 dozen or more of our Birthday Cupcakes, just say you want the "Birthday Special"!  Right now they are only $35 for 2 dozen!  Now, that is a great deal!

This will get you the choice of either Vanilla or Chocolate cupcakes with Vanilla or Chocolate buttercream frosting, and of course some birthday sprinkles!

What more could a kid ask for?

It's a FRENZY!

People in the Donelson, Hermitage, and Mt. Juliet areas have been asking me for quite some time when there will be more food trucks in this area.
Up until now it was mostly just me and the cupcake truck, with the exception of a few other trucks who came out this way on occasion.

So, I have been on the hunt for a good place to host a gathering of trucks, in order to feed all these folks, who are anxious for a little variety!
After some work and searching I have done it!

If you are somewhat familiar with the Hermitage area, you probably know the intersection of Lebanon Pike and Old Hickory Blvd.  It is a very large intersection!  There is a Hobby Lobby and Big Lots on one corner, and on the other corner (up on the hill) sits the Hermitage Church of Christ (in the big white building.)

Well, the church has a lower parking lot, which is visible from Lebanon Pike.  It is a big open space, with plenty of parking.  (step one... check!)

This church also has a food pantry, which gives out food, clothes, etc. on a daily basis to those in need.  (GREAT cause.... check!)

I approached the managers and individuals in charge with the proposition of utilizing their lower parking lot for a gathering of food trucks.  They were happy to have us! (check!)

In return, the trucks will give 10% of their proceeds to help the food pantry!

So, the Hermitage Food Truck Frenzy is born!

The first event will take place Wednesday, March 7th from 11am until 2pm!  If it is a success, we have been given permission to make it a weekly event!

This is so exciting for this area!  We are so excited that we have been able to make it happen!
Just imagine, different trucks each week with a variety of different foods, with a portion of the proceeds going to a great cause!
Make sure to mark you calendars for Wednesdays, and tell all your friends where they can go that day for lunch.
There will also be bins set up, where you  may bring food items to donate.  Their food pantry is always in need of food, so anything you drop off will be appreciated.

The first week's lineup will include:
Hoss' Loaded Burgers
Rollin and Smokin BBQ
YaYo's OMG (Original Mexican Gourmet)
and us!

It's gonna be great, don't miss it!

Happy Sweets Day!

Well, February is now upon us!  That means it is time to get your plans underway for that sappy holiday!   Seems like it should be called Happy Sweets Day, it gives us the perfect excuse to indulge!

Anyway, it is hard to believe that Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  But, it will be here before you know it.

Now guys, you know your wife or girlfriend is expecting a little something, right?

It doesn't have to be big and expensive like cars and jewelry!  Most girls just like to know you put some thought into it!  Honestly, it's the little things that make us happy!
If everyone else around us is receiving reminders from their sweethearts, we need to know we are loved, too!

And ladies, your man is expecting a little attention too.  Even if he doesn't come out and say it, he really loves you to pamper him with something special.   I have found through experience, that the way to a man's heart is definitely through his stomach!

So today's featured flavors are made with that in mind.
The first is a flavor I introduced last year called True Love.  The name says it all!

This is for the love of your life who adores chocolate, almost as much as you!  It is a rich chocolate cupcake topped with a dark chocolate Ganache and a little candy heart.

Next up is a new flavor, fresh from the oven!  I have several fans out there who just don't care for the sweetness of traditional frosting.  So, I was determined I would create a cupcake that was light enough for the pickier of the sweet eaters.

You may have had a birthday cake from a grocery store or bakery that was made with a whipped type frosting, rather than buttercream or cream cheese.  This has been a popular selection for some people because it isn't quite as sweet and it holds up well in the warmer temperatures.
However!  Have you noticed how is usually takes like the wax from a melted candle with a touch of sugar added?  Yuck!!
I think the idea behind this frosting was to come up with something that tastes more like whipped cream.  The problem with that, is they were not very successful (just my humble opinion, but then again I like the sweet stuff!).

See, as you can imagine, whipped cream does not hold up well outside of the refrigerator.  So, frosting made to imitate whipped cream, especially when it is mass produced for grocery stores to be shipped and stored long term, will not last.  So, apparently changes were made to solve those problems..... I just don't want to know what they are!

Now don't go and get offended, I know there are people who enjoy this variety.  I am simply not one of them.  That is OK.

So, what I chose to do is a little homework!  I decided to find a way to make a light, whipped frosting that is fresh and tasty, but can pile up on a cupcake without sliding off.  (Have you ever tried to make whipped cream hold it's shape for more than a few minutes?  This was challenging!)

Eventually, I discovered several recipes that address this very issue.  After playing with it, and tweaking it to taste, I came up with my own recipe for a whipped frosting!
Let me tell you, it is perfection!

So, what better way to introduce it, than a traditional, light and sweet treat!
Strawberry Shortcake!

Yep, this is a moist yellow cupcake.  It has my new whipped cream frosting, and is topped with a fresh strawberry slice!
If your sweetie prefers a lighter, sweet treat, then this is your ticket!

Don't forget we deliver!  Get your order in now, for whatever flavor you like and I will deliver to your door!  Send them to your sweetie at work, or have them waiting at home for after dinner!
Flowers wilt and die, give your better half something yummy they will remember (and share)!

Carnival!

You could say that I have put a lot of research into this cupcake.

Since meeting my husband 14 years ago, a native of New Orleans, I have been well educated on the traditions of Mardi Gras.

From the history, which goes back hundreds of years, to the Grand parades, fancy floats and costumes.

People in New Orleans take the traditions of Mardi Gras very seriously!  There are certain things you do and eat as part of the celebration of "Carnival" (as it is actually called) that they have been doing for years.

Let me state for the record that this is NOT the celebratory activities you see in movies and on TV.  It doesn't involve going to the french quarter and "tying one on" (among other things).... so to speak.

One of the long standing traditions is that of the King Cake!

Now, there are dozens of ways to make this traditional delicacy.  Everyone you meet will want to tell you their preferred (and "right" way!)  But, the basics are a Cinnamon Roll type bread twisted into a large circle, much like a wreath.  It is topped with a cream cheese frosting and sprinkles in the Mardi Gras colors of purple, green, and gold.

Finally, a small plastic baby is inserted somewhere in the cake. Whoever gets the slice containing the baby is said to have good luck all year long.

Cool, huh?  It really is neat, and all the king cakes I have tried were pretty tasty.
So, I figured why not make a cupcake version in order to celebrate Mardi Gras in the Dixie Belle's way!

This is a cinnamon roll cupcake, loaded with cinnamon and brown sugar.
It is topped with a rich cream cheese frosting and Mardi Gras sprinkles in purple, green, and gold.
Not to mention, a sparkly crown to make Bacchus proud!

T-Shirt contest!

We are excited to announce that we are  now in the process of having the first Dixie Belle's merchandise available for purchase!

I can't tell you how many people have come up to me lately asking to buy a Dixie Belle's t-shirt, stickers, etc.
So, you asked for it, you got it!

To make it fun, though, we are going to do this a little differently!
We will have a contest!

We will be accepting slogan/catch phrase ideas on our Facebook page!
You know, something cute and catchy that would be great on the back of a t-shirt.

One idea would be something like "Get your cupcake on!"
(Okay, something better than that!  This is why I need your input!)

Please just keep it clean, this is a family business!*
(*Here is the fine print: I reserve the right to delete any suggestions that are inappropriate!)

Once we get the ideas flowing, we ask that you go and vote for your favorite!  After a few weeks we will determine the winner.

The winner who submits the best slogan will get the first Dixie Belle's t-shirt, as well as 2 dozen cupcakes of their choice delivered to them!
You can't beat that!

Now, get your thinking caps on and bring on the ideas!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

It's a FEASTival!

What could be better than driving along and finding one of the many Nashville food trucks?

Finding a BUNCH of the Nashville food trucks all in once place!

That's right! This coming Saturday you can take your pick from a large number of Nashville's food trucks, serving the absolute best food!

It is the Wanderland FEASTival!
It will be held at the corner of Rosa Parks and Jefferson Street, in Germantown.

The event is going to be the first of many, so you will want to stay tuned for further dates coming up!

It starts at 11am and will last until 9pm!  During that time there will be 2 shifts of trucks! So, you could come by for lunch and then come back later to get dinner from an entirely different fleet of trucks!

We will be there 4-9pm, so make sure to get out and see us!  We will have a great menu, with a variety of yummy treats to suit everyone's taste!

It just doesn't get any better than this!!

Banana Sundae!

Remember when you were a kid, when the little things just made your day?

Like having to go to the dentist, but knowing that you would get a treat afterward made it totally worthwhile!

Then there were Sundays... You may not get to go out to lunch, but occasionally mom and dad would take you for an afternoon sundae?

Well, after talking with a customer the other day, I got to thinking about the things that "take me back to my childhood..." and it was these memories that helped me to create our newest flavor.

This one is called "Banana Sundae".

It has all the good things that remind you of those childhood "treats"!

It is a moist banana cupcake, with a caramel infused buttercream frosting.  It is topped with 2 types of sprinkles and shaved Hershey's chocolate.
I can even be talked into adding chocolate or caramel syrup if it suits your fancy!

You are gonna feel like a big kid with this one!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a very blessed Christmas!
I know we did.  Everyone was (mostly) healthy and had a great time among our friends and family.

We are now fully back into the swing of life.  Kids are back in school, everyone is back to work.

I am very excited about what the new year is going to bring.  2012 is looking very promising!

I look forward to all the new faces we will see, people we will meet, and the opportunity to serve you all!

We will also be bringing some new flavors around in the coming days and weeks, you will NOT want to miss!

As always, I am here to please so I welcome your ideas, suggestions, and requests.

In the fall I received a request for hot tea as an option to accompany the cupcakes.  What an awesome idea that was!  Immediately after, we began offering a variety of hot teas and it has been a HUGE HIT!
I have to admit that many days, especially when it is cold like this, when you approach the van you will probably see me sipping on some hot tea myself!

As hard as it is to believe, we are now encroaching on our next holiday.

Yep, Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!  So, start planning ahead now.  Don't be the one at the office that is left scrambling the day of to do something special for your loved one!
Remember to get your orders in a few days ahead and I can deliver them to you (or surprise her at the office!)

Whew!  So much to say, so much to do.  Still can't believe we are already into January.  That is all for now, but stay tuned.
The first of our new flavors will be posted soon!
